Rubi Urbano is a coffee farmer who lives in the la Fragua region of Nariño, Colombia. Since a young age Rubi has learnt the coffee trade from her parents who inherited a small plot of land where they grew coffee. She always dreamed of having her own farm one day and using it to improve her family's quality of life.
One day Rubi met Alberto Pajajoy who share her dream and passion for coffee. They soon fell in love, uniting both their lives and their dreams. Together they bought more land and expanded their production, taking advantage of the climate and geographic conditions of their local region.
Alongside their two daughters, Laura and Daniela, Rubi and Alberto have worked hard to advance their farm. The couple passed on their love and respect for the land and their environment to their daughters, giving them a good education and supporting them through university. Both Laura and Daniela return home at harvest time to help improve the coffee production.
Today the family are recognised as some of the best coffee farmers in the Nariño region, with their coffee being transported to NI, where it is appreciated for its flavor, aroma and quality. Rubi is proud of achieving her dreams and helping to support her community. She believes coffee is more than a product, it’s a way of life.
